All of us pet-parents love our pets and we want to help them when they are sick or in need of medical care. We understand that sometimes finding affordable vet care, whether it be maintenance or emergency care, can be rough. Please explore the resources below that can help you and your pet receives the care that they need.

IMMEDIATE decision, and IMMEDIATE access to funds if accepted.

Care credit is a credit card SPECIFICALLY used for human and pet medical expenses. Ask your veterinarian if their office accepts Care Credit.

Payment plan for veterinary bills. Your vet and/or clinic that your animal is being treated at must apply on your behalf.

Pets of the Homeless

Pets of the Homeless also provides emergency veterinary care. Must be HOMELESS or in transitional housing/shelter.

The only national animal organization focused completely on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless. To accomplish this task, we have four unique programs that provide free pet food, free emergency veterinary care, we sponsor wellness clinics and ship sleeping crates to homeless shelters.


Friends and Vets Helping Pets

All applicants must be prepared to show financial need.

Friends & Vets Helping Pets funds treatments for curable (lifesaving, not life-prolong) diseases such as tumors, broken bones, ambulatory care, expensive medication, or post-surgical prosthetics such as a K-9 cart. Grants are made to individuals and families whose ability to pay is extremely limited, but also to those of somewhat more substantial means, up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, who may only need minor subsidy to meet the veterinary expenses. Financial aid is intended as a supplement to family resources.

Application forms are online but must be faxed or mailed to the organization.

Provide grants to help with the cost of life-saving or life-enhancing emergency or specialty care for pets whose families cannot afford the full cost of treatment.

A non-profit foundation dedicated to finding cures and saving pets with cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Qualifying families are responsible for a portion of the treatment costs for their pets. The veterinary hospitals at which the pets are treated also assist by giving discounts. 


Red Rover Relief Urgent Care Grants

Grant program helps animals who need urgent and emergency veterinary care.

The typical grant is around $200, and is intended to fill a small gap in funding that is keeping an animal from care. Decisions are based upon several factors, including: medical urgency, financial need, available funding, and eligibility. Red Rover also has a comprehensive list of various grant programs based on location, and some are also breed-specific.


The Budkis Foundation – Puget Sound Only

Pet owner’s veterinarian must be the one in contact with the foundation.

They work directly with veterinarians who have identified seniors that qualify for assistance, allowing for a non-biased and objective evaluation of each case.

Funds within the Renton Community Foundation, a 501(C)3, non-profit organization in the State of Washington. Their goal is to help low income seniors within the Puget Sound community whose pets need emergency veterinary care which may include medications, surgical procedures and euthanasia.
The animal MUST be seen and diagnosed by a vet, and a high-low estimate of cost of care is also required at the time of inquiry.


Furry Faces (Oliver’s Fund) – Seattle

F3 provides support for people who may need assistance to care for their companion animals.

We also act as a resource to our Greater West Seattle, South Park, White Center, and Boulevard Park neighbors. Our focus is always helping improve the human/animal bond, which is critical in keeping animals with their people.


Brown Dog Foundation

Offers families in temporary financial crisis an alternative to euthanasia when their pet is diagnosed with a treatable, but life threatening condition or illness.

Programs are designed to help families provide life sustaining medications, major medical, and emergency vet care during a temporary financial crisis. Providing guidance and referral to lower cost and alternative treatment options, by allowing pet owners to purchase medications at deep discounts through our pharmaceutical suppliers and by paying the difference between the amount charged by the vet and the amount the family can afford.


STARelief and Pet Assistance

Provides life-saving pet food and veterinary care, emergency boarding and foster care to pets whose caretakers are struggling with financial hardship.

The long-term vision of STARelief and Pet Assistance is to ensure that no person will ever have to surrender their pet due to financial hardship, and to ensure that all companion animals are treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve.


The Onyx & Breezy Foundation

Funding and support for pets of individuals where medical hardship is present.

Also assists with: spay and neuter programs, rescue of animals from kill shelters, food, medicine and supplies, cancer research, medicine and equipment for military and police canines, equipment for medical facilities, puppy mill rescues and disaster relief, shelters, rescues, foster groups and sanctuaries, helping the dogs of veterans suffering from PTSD, and other endeavors that benefit the welfare of animals.


Paws 4 A Cure

Apply Online

Provides financial assistance throughout the US to those who cannot afford vet care for their beloved furry family members. IF APPROVED they will need an invoice from your vet and they will mail a check within 30 days.

Helps dogs and cats with all illnesses and injuries but does not include regular vaccinations and spay/neuter. They do not discriminate against breed, age, or diagnosis.

*Note that this organization also requires you to apply for OTHER grants alongside this and to provide them with the names of the organizations to which you have also applied to.


The Mosby Foundation – Dogs Only – Non Emergency

Apply Online

Assists in the care of critically sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education.

Only assists animals that have been spayed/neutered. Cannot assist with diagnostics or core vet care (vaccines, spay/neuter.) One-time assistance program. 


The Pet Fund


ALL applicants are REQUIRED to contact The Pet Fund by phone BEFORE applying for funding.

They are not equipped to handle requests for EMERGENCY care.

Assists owners in covering medical costs beyond the normal expenses of vaccination, spay and neuter surgeries, food and routine veterinary care.

Treatment must be completed in Whitman or Latah County with a vet of the family’s choosing. Referrals to specialists for services not available in Whitman or Latah County will be considered on a case by case basis. You will need to provide proof of declination from Care Credit or similar credit card company. Cooper's Legacy Foundation wants to help as many families with sick and/or injured pets as possible. Offers assistance in both WA and ID.
