Daisy is five pounds of personality, affection, and determination to never be too far away from her person.
Daisy is happiest when she is with her people. She loves cuddling, giving kisses, and getting excited when her favorite humans are nearby. She can be a little shy when meeting someone new, but she has been friendly with the people she has met and has not shown aggression in her current environment.
Daisy is also very vocal about her feelings. She experiences significant separation anxiety and can bark, cry, and scream when left alone. Her current care plan includes trazodone and gabapentin to help manage her anxiety. With a predictable routine, plenty of companionship, and the space and security of a home environment, her future family may be able to work with her veterinarian on adjusting her medications over time.
Because Daisy wants her people close, she would do best with someone who is home frequently and is prepared to help her gradually build confidence with alone time. Basic training classes may also be helpful, particularly when paired with a consistent daily routine.
Daisy is not a fan of other dogs and did not enjoy living with them previously, so she is looking for a home where she can be your one and only pup. Her comfort with cats is unknown, but given her feelings about other dogs, a cat-free home may be the safest fit. She is also a serious flight risk, so her family will need to be diligent about doors, gates, and outdoor time. A secure barrier and always using a leash outside will be important.
Daisy has moderate-to-high energy for a little dog and would enjoy an active person who wants a companion for their daily routine. She is not fully potty trained and will currently go both inside and outside, so her adopter should be prepared to continue working on this with patience and consistency.
Daisy does have a few ongoing health considerations. She has mild periodontal disease and dental tartar, so regular home dental care and a professional dental cleaning within the next year are recommended. She also has severe luxating patellas in both knees. Thankfully, they are not currently painful and do not require immediate treatment, but they will need to be monitored for potential surgery in the future.
None of that changes what Daisy really wants: her person. She is a little dog who wants to be close, cuddle up, give kisses, and be part of your everyday life. With the right home, patience, and a predictable routine, Daisy will be ready to be an incredibly devoted little companion.
