HOLLY

Breed: Westie

Age: 9 Years Old

Gender: Female

Size: Small

Special Considerations:Food/environmental allergies requiring a hypoallergenic diet, regular grooming, dental care, and separation anxiety.

Meet Holly! Holly is a sweet, gentle girl who is looking for a home where she can settle in, feel secure, and enjoy being part of a family. She has done well with everyone she has met so far and has a calm, cooperative temperament, including at veterinary appointments.

Holly isn't looking for a nonstop adventure. She would be happy in a home where she can relax, spend time with her people, and enjoy a predictable routine. She isn't fully potty trained yet, but she does well using potty pads, so her new family should be prepared to continue working with her as she adjusts to her new home.

Holly does experience significant separation anxiety and can be very vocal when she is left alone. She would do best with someone who spends plenty of time at home and is willing to help her gradually build confidence with being alone. She may initially be a little flighty when separated from her people, so her family will need to be mindful around doors and other opportunities to slip away.

Her relationship with other animals is still being evaluated. She seems interested in dogs and may do well with them, and she may also be okay with cats, but introductions should be slow and thoughtful.

Holly does have some ongoing medical needs that her adopter will need to be prepared for. She has food and/or environmental allergies and is currently on a hypoallergenic diet to help identify and manage her triggers. She has a history of flea allergies and can be prone to hot spots and ear infections. She will also need regular professional grooming about every six weeks, with brushing at home between appointments.

She has moderate periodontal disease and will need a dental cleaning in the coming months. She also has mild degenerative changes in her hips seen on previous X-rays, although she is currently comfortable and showing no signs of pain. A daily joint supplement is part of her current care plan.

Holly is also currently receiving medication to help with anxiety, but this may not be something she needs long term once she is settled into a home. Any changes to her medications should be made gradually with guidance from her veterinarian.

Holly is looking for a patient, loving home that understands she may need some time to adjust and can give her the consistency, companionship, and care she needs to feel her best. In return, she'll be a sweet and gentle companion who is happy to simply be part of your family.

Holly is up to date to vaccines, spayed and microchipped.
